Specification:                Skylights shall be factory assembled as manufactured by A.I.A. industries, Inc., Denver, Colorado.  Units consist of an inner frame (.070) thick, and outer frame (.060) thick extruded aluminum alloy 6063-T5.  Skylights are to be gasketed underneath and between domes and provision shall be made for adequate weep age to exterior.  Domes shall consist of one-piece formed acrylic plastic constructed to withstand 40 P.S.F. downward and 20 P.S.F. outward loading.  Units shall be constructed to minimize air infiltration.  THERMAL BREAK UNITS SHALL HAVE POLYURETHANE THERMAL BREAK TO REDUCE THERMAL TRANSFER THROUGH THE ALUMINUM FRAME AND TO PREVENT CONDENSATION ON THE INTERIOR FRAME SECTIONS.  Flat glazed units shall be constructed of a Polycarbonate structural sheet or sealed insulated glass panel with tempered outer lite and tempered or laminated inner lite.

DOME SKYLIGHT DISTORTION & POPPING:

Due to the inherent nature of present day acrylic, and because skylight domes are heated and then thermoformed, domed acrylic skylights will have some distortion.  This distortion will be noticeable when looking at any object other than blue sky.  Additionally all objects viewed at an angle will look distorted due to the curvature of the acrylic material.  If the skylight is to be used in a distortion free window application, we recommend the use of glass.  Expansion and contraction of acrylic glazing may cause audible popping
